To contribute to MDM, please set up your development environment first like this:

1. Install Eclipse Java.
2. Within Eclipse, from the Help->Install New Software menu, install WindowBuilder and SWT Designer.
3. Fork this repository on GitHub.
4. Pull your forked repository into your Eclipse Workspace (using the Eclipse Git plugin or your separately installed
Git client). Create a 'lib' folder in the root of the pulled repository.
5. Download the following binary archives from the Apache Archives (http://archive.apache.org/dist/commons/) and put
them into the lib folder:
commons-collections-3.2.1-bin.zip
commons-configuration-1.8-bin.zip
commons-lang-2.6-bin.zip
commons-logging-1.1.1-bin.zip
You also have to put the appbundler-1.0.jar into the lib folder. Download it from here: https://java.net/projects/appbundler/downloads

Can anyone enlighten me as to what no 3 means please?

I think the term "Forking" has been invented by the guys at GitHub. You can find more info about it in the GitHub Help section at https://help.github.com/articles/fork-a-repo/. However, to use GitHub, you must be familiar at least with the basics of Git Version Control. The free official book on Git can be read online at https://git-scm.com/book/en/v2/.

@airflamesred: Do you plan to contribute to MDM development, as well? Do you have Java and/or Git experience?

By the way, I did some further reading on JavaFX and it can actually be styled with CSS. But using CSS might not be necessary. JavaFX already looks much better than Swing. You can find screenshots of the JavaFX UI elements here: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/8/javafx/user-interface-tutorial/ui_controls.htm#JFXUI336.

Thank you, I shall take a look.
I do hope to contribute, I have some HTML/CSS experience if that is useful?

Whenever I change input in pads section i.e from kick to ride mdm crashes most of the times. Is there any issue regarding what software is used?

Never had a crash with that. Post your MDM settings with which you have crashes and I will try to reproduce it.

Hi MegaDrummers!

I have the latest and greatest releases MDM and MD firmware and I use a Roland midi to USB cable to connect to MDM on my Dell Inspiron 2in1 laptop. I cannot seem to get information to change on either MDM (if I make changes to the physical box) or the MD when I make changes to MDM and hit either send or get. Live updates also won't work to actually change the MD.setting from MDM. I have my Roland device set as my in and out for the ports. The Midi out for sure works correctly to trigger the notes properly in addictive drums 2 but I've been having to set things using only the MD which is a huge pain.

Is there a setting other than in/out that needs to be changed to accommodate my Midi to USB device?

Thanks

Please post a screenshot and lets see if we can't ascertain what the problem is

Out of curiosity, why are you using a midi-usb cable? How are you powering the module? Wouldn't it be easier to just use a USB cable from the module to your computer?
If it ain't broken... fix it until it is.
