Thanks Ken,

For Linux users, the file:\\\ line needs to be file://

Example:
<jnlp spec="1.0+"
codebase="file:///home/<username>/MegaDrum Config Tool">

Obviously replacing <username> with your username.
I didn't need to change permissions. I don't think you should have to if it is in your home folder.

Also, I just copied the files from /tmp/cache/http/www.megadrum.info/configtool

Don't mess with complicated things, I will just add the offline-allowed tag to the JNLP file. You will only need internet connection if you feel you want to update the application.

It is, when it works. Unfortunately MCT on OS X has been hit and miss. Some things work, some don't. Now, I don't blame or hold elrules responsible to fix it and if it really mattered to me I would submit bug reports to him, but the magical wonders of cross-platform languages are only realized when the resulting software actually works properly and identically on all platforms. Java has been promising true write once run anywhere compatibility for a long time (~10 years), but it's yet to materialize where developers can actually forget about it altogether. Again, I'm not blaming the developers or Java necessarily, but someone keeps making the promises and we still don't have true transparent cross platform support that "just works".

I suspect he's even weirder when sober. :D

Fuzzy, you do have a point. Still, in theory, Java is a very good bet in terms of cross-platform development. Of course, in theory there is no difference to practice, but in practice, there is. Anyway... :D Since I'd be one of those who'd like to use it on OS X as well, I'd like to look into what parts of the MCT don't work there.

So, as soon as I've build my MegaDrum (still waiting for the parts to arrive ;) *hinthintnudgenudge*) and the MCT code repository has been set up, I'll give it a shot.

Dmitri popped another firmware update - can the view-O-matic thread survivewhile when 85% of my posts are crap?

PS. I'm sanctioned by my government to work with children but my brother is not.

I'm not really sure how to respond to that, Ken. :?

All I know is that I was ranting about Java. ;)

I think Java is a fine language to use for MCT as it certainly lays the ground work for multi-platform support even if time was/is required to make it work seamlessly on all platforms. Perhaps I just needed to vent a little, hehe.

Great! thanks for that!

One question for all Mac users out there...

:?: Could you tell us what MCT features currently work with your MD? (and we'll just consider all the other options dont work)
